My Tiny Friend

There was a man named Niall Macnamara that came and lived with our people long ago. He wrote a book called "The Leprechaun Companion". It is about our history, our habits and some of our releatives. Here are some words from his book.

"Leprechauns are elusive creatures despite their world-wide fame. Few people know much about them beyond their fondness for shoemaking, crocks of gold, rainbows... and perhaps their talent for granting wishes."

A lot of Leprechauns are like that, but my family and I are an exception. We love to mingle with people. We think we can learn a lot from people and I hope they can learn from us. We have to be weary though. Some people just want to be our friends because they think we have lots of gold and/or can grant wishes. Only some Leprechauns have lots of gold and can grant wishes. I am not currently one of those Leprechauns. I have to be a lot older to do that. I'm only 238 years old. I love to wear green and collect 4-leaf clovers. I also love to eat shamorock soup. I currently live in a tiny mushroom house, under a gigantic tree, in the woods, with my family.

I plan to add more about myself as time permits. I'm very busy making and fixing shoes to support my family. I do hope to hear from you. If you learn anything more about Leprechauns I'd love to know what you have learned. Or, if you have any questions just ask me. I'll try to answer them. Maybe I'll add your knowledge and questions to my web site.

Your tiny friend,

Patrick
